New Combined Kindergarten/Preschool Program at Garden Gate
We are excited to announce that we have begun enrolling for our new combined Kindergarten/Preschool program at Garden Gate. For many years parents have asked, “Can you please open a Kindergarten?” Now, more than ever, we feel the need to provide a learning environment that nurtures young children, that allows then to explore and grow in an authentic, joy-filled context.
Our combined Kindergarten/Preschool program is designed to offer families an alternative to a traditional Kindergarten model. This unique opportunity will offer children an additional year of child led exploration in a setting that provides an individualized curriculum, inquiry based learning, a focus on collaboration and community and a commitment to preserve the joy and wonder of childhood.
The children are always at the center of our curriculum. Learning is meaningful and authentic because it is always tied to the interests and abilities of the specific children in our group. Based on their close observations of the children, teachers push curriculum forward with carefully prepared invitations designed to draw children into deeper thinking and theory making. Through inquiry and project work, and with the arts as a means of creative communication and problem solving, curriculum moves forward in a thoughtful progression toward the construction of new learning and knowledge. Literacy, math, science, and social studies are embedded in the children’s creative work, preparing children for all future learning.
